This is a live virtual training session in the morning on both days with interaction between trainer and participants. Participants must be on an individual computer and have access to internet, a camera, microphone and access to Zoom, YouTube and Surveyplanet (links will be sent by chat during Zoom session).
A Zoom link and a digital manual for this session will be emailed approximately one week prior to the session.
Participants will learn best operational and maintenance practices for small drinking water systems to ensure the system is meeting its design objectives and providing high quality drinking water.
Through the discussion of various case studies, participants will have an opportunity to examine circumstances creating adverse test results, identify causes and discuss opportunities for implementing Best Management Practices (BMPs) to avoid future issues.
Target Audience
Owners and operators of small drinking water systems as defined in the Ministry of the Environment's O. Reg. 170/03. Successful completion of this Director approved course can be used to maintain your "Trained Person" designation as defined under Ontario Regulation 170/03 of the Safe Drinking Water Act.

Course Trainer:
Stephanie Meades
Stephanie is the Small Drinking Water Systems Specialist at WCWC and provides support to small drinking water systems and First Nations throughout Ontario. Stephanie also develops and delivers training programs for small drinking water systems.
Stephanie worked as a certified Public Health Inspector with the Region of Waterloo Public Health prior to joining WCWC in 2017. For the last 10 years in Public Health, Stephanie was the Safe Drinking Water program lead which included duties of assessing Reg. 319 SDWS, responding to Reg. 319 and 170 adverse water quality incidents, as well as Reg 243/07 exceedance of lead. The role also included collaborating with stakeholders at a local and provincial level for resource development and training.
Stephanie has a degree in Environmental Health from Ryerson University and has completed Water and Water Systems course from Fleming College and the Operation of Small Drinking Water Systems course from WCWC.
