Course Overview
Maintenancefest is a unique hands-on training experience that allows participants to cycle through 6 training modules over the 2 days.
Each participant will take part in the 6 modules listed below.
MODULES
Basics of Utility Locates - This module will cover the basics of locating underground water infrastructure, including an overview of the equipment and technology typically used. Demonstration of locating techniques will be included in this module.
Jar Testing - Participants will learn how to conduct a series of jar tests and draw conclusions based on the results.
Maintenance of Valves - This module will provide participants with the necessary skills to operate valves in the distribution system and evaluate their condition. The session will also explain how different valves are constructed, what's inside them, and how they work.
Water Metering Awareness - This module will introduce participants to the various components of water meters, and provide an awareness of installation and maintenance best practices.
Recordkeeping Requirements - Participants will receive an overview of key sections of O.Reg. 128/04 and O.Reg. 170/03 pertaining to recordkeeping.
Various methods of recordkeeping will be examined, along with the requirements to record special instructions, abnormal conditions and other pertinent information.
Unidirectional Flushing - This module will provide hands-on training to familiarize participants with appropriate steps involved in unidirectional
flushing and swabbing.
