Course Overview

Participants will receive an overview of system responsibilities set out at the federal, provincial and municipal levels for drinking water quality compliance. This session will focus on monitoring requirements in Ontario, and setting goals based on outcomes.

Sampling/sample handling and notification of adverse results will be discussed in detail. The interpretation of test results will be examined in order to meet regulated parameters and establish targets that go beyond the regulations.

Applicable sections of the Drinking Water Quality Management Standard (DWQMS) and applicable regulations will be reviewed in support of establishing best practices for corrective action and continuous improvement.

Target Audience

This course is designed for experienced distribution and treatment operators with some degree of knowledge of Ontario drinking water regulations.

Course Trainer:

  Janine deBoer

Janine has almost 30 years’ experience working in the water industry and holds a Water Treatment 4 and Water Distribution and Supply 3 certificate. After leaving Durham Region after 26 years where she was the Integrated Management System Coordinator and oversaw the implementation and maintenance of the ISO and DWQMS systems for the Works Department, she started providing training, auditing and compliance services to various clients in Ontario and British Columbia.  She is a certified auditor for ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and DWQMS and performs both internal and external audits.
