This is a live virtual training session with interaction between trainer and participants and there is a class max of 12. Participants will require access to a computer that has internet, a camera, microphone and access to Zoom, Youtube and Surveyplanet (links will be sent by chat during Zoom session). A manual will be sent to the participant prior to the session by courier.
This course will provide participants with an in-depth understanding of the present day Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
Participants will learn about the various components of the SCADA system and what purpose each serves in the system.
Group activities will provide attendees an opportunity to learn more about the signals useful for identifying information provided by field devices or software, defining Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) characteristics, and the Human Machine Interface (HMI). Sessions scheduled at the Walkerton Clean Water Centre will include hands-on activities using a simulated SCADA system in our Technology Demonstration Facility.
Target Audience
This course will be of interest to senior operators, supervisors and managers with oversight responsibility of SCADA systems at their utility.

Course Trainer:
Perry DeCola
Perry has been in the water treatment field for 30 years, encompassing all aspects of design, management, maintenance, and SCADA systems as they relate to conventional treatment equipment and facilities. Perry holds an Environmental Technologist Certificate and is a Class IV Water Operator. He has participated in a variety of certificate programs and workshops on topics directly related to technological advancements in the drinking water industry. Perry is the Secretary Treasurer of the EOWWA. He has developed and instituted new SCADA and reporting systems and worked for many years optimizing plant operations. Perry has specific skills in PLC, SCADA, filtration, algae indentification, chlorination, legislation, QMS and process optimization. He is the Director of Environmental Services for the City of Belleville and a member of the City of Belleville Emergency Management Team and a member of the AWWA, OWWA and EOWWA.
