The Walkerton Clean Water Centre (WCWC) is seeking a qualified postsecondary student to support the delivery of its programs. This position requires excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Position: Student Technician for fall placement or co-op.
Location: Walkerton, Ontario
Hours: 7.5 hour work day Monday to Friday Salary: $15.00 per hour
Assignment duration: To begin in September 2017 ending December 22, 2017
This position reports to the Manager, Research & Technology Institute and works under the technical guidance of the Lead/Scientist, Technicians and Trainers.
Key Technical Duties:
- Conducting experiments and analyzing samples
- Operating and maintaining the pilot systems
- Maintaining and calibrating the monitoring equipment
- Collecting data from the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA)
- Assisting trainers and course participants in the preparation and delivery of hands-on training
- Setting up the pilot systems and the laboratory to support training and pilot testing
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager
Conditions for the Successful applicant
- An official letter from the college/university certifying enrolment in a minimum 2nd year of a full time college or university undergraduate program in either sciences or technology, preferably in civil, environmental or chemical engineering programs. This position is available as a fall position for a student returning to studies in the winter, or as a co-op placement where applicable.
- Prior to performing any duties at the Centre, the student will have been instructed in the Centre’s Health and Safety procedures and must complete WHMIS training. The position requires abilities to work independently and as a team member.
