The Walkerton Clean Water Centre (WCWC) is seeking communication
support for the Department of Management Services. The position requires
a team player with excellent verbal and written English communications
skills.
This position is based in Walkerton, Ontario.
Communications Associate (Salary Range $43,797 - 49,393.50)
The Communications Associate supports the Manager, Department of Management Services, by writing reports, developing ads, presentations and web content. The Communications Associate will also help the Planning and Communications Coordinator develop marketing materials for conferences and other events. This position is also the web administrator for the WCWC.
The ideal candidate will
- Have at least a diploma in a communications program (or equivalent), and preferably three years’ experience in a related position
- Be able to draft and edit documents for internal audiences and for such external audiences as the public, the media, stakeholders, and partners
- Be responsible for writing and editing web content, including using a content management system to routinely keep the website up to date with news
- Be able to ensure consistent messaging and functionality throughout the site
- Be familiar with the principles of search engine optimization and plain language
- Provide overall support for the development and implementation of communications plans and strategies
- Be highly organized, creative, and flexible, with strong project, people and time management skills
- Have strong computer skills (including familiarity with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Adobe Illustrator) and facility in learning new data management tools
- Be able to work flexible hours and travel occasionally
- Have a valid driver’s license.
