WCWC is seeking a qualified co-op student.

The Walkerton Clean Water Centre (WCWC) is seeking a qualified co-op student to support the delivery of provincial priorities in the water sector. This position requires excellent verbal and written English communication skills.

Location: Walkerton, Ontario

Co-op Position   Office Hours:  7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (max. 7.5 hours/day)

This position reports to the Technology Demonstration Lead, WCWC Research & Technology Institute

Key Technical Duties:

¨    Conducting experiments and analyzing samples

¨    Operating and maintaining the pilot systems

¨    Maintaining and calibrating the monitoring equipment

¨    Collecting data from the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA)

¨    Assisting trainers and course participants in the preparation and delivery of hands-on training

¨    Setting up the pilot systems and the laboratory to support training and research

¨    Perform additional duties as assigned by the Technology Demonstration Lead

¨    Ability to work independently and as a team member

Prior to performing any duties at the Centre, the co-op student will have been instructed in the Centre’s Health and Safety procedures and must complete WHMIS training. The co-op student will provide his/her own safety boots.

Summary of co-op student position

¨    Assignment duration: 15 to 16 weeks starting in September 2011

¨    The co-op student will assist in research projects, in the preparation and delivery of hands on training and in the operation and maintenance of the technical equipment and laboratory. The co-op student will report to the Technology Demonstration Lead and perform other tasks as directed.

Conditions for the Successful applicant

1. An official letter from the college/university certifying enrolment in a full time college or university undergraduate program in either civil, environmental or chemical engineering/technology

2. An official transcript of courses

3. The applicant should be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident in Canada
