Technician Required

Position:  Technician (Salary range $52,219 - $60,165)

 

Location: Walkerton Clean Water Centre, Walkerton, Ontario

 

2 Contract Positions Available (1 year)

 

The position reports to the Manager, WCWC Research & Technology Institute.

 

Key Technical Duties:

ü  Operate and maintain technical equipment.

ü  Conduct experiments, collect and analyze samples.

ü  Keep up to date inventories and logbooks.

ü  Assist trainers and deliver training.

ü  Assist the Research Lead, Technology Demonstration Lead and Innovation Lead.

ü  Prepare reports, laboratory procedures and training materials.

ü  Represent the WCWC at trade shows and at meetings.

ü  Perform other duties as requested by the Manager.

   

This position requires a strong willingness and ability to learn new technology as the technology demonstration facility is a state-of-the-art technology demonstration site which includes, but not limited to, a laboratory, conventional and advanced water treatment systems; monitoring and control instruments; a distribution system; and numerous kinds of operating devices. This position requires travel and flexible work hours. Proof of a valid driver’s licence – minimum class “G” or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario, will be required upon acceptance of an offer of employment.

 

Knowledge and Education Requirements:

· Appropriate diploma or degree.

· Knowledge in operating drinking water process units and proven laboratory skills.

· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and ability to do training.

· Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

 

Ability to work independently and as a team member.
